National Association of State Boards of Accountancy CPE Program (NASBA)

Anyone interested in learning more about NASBA and their CPE program are encouraged to visit the NASBA website or e-mail CPE@nasba.org.

What is NASBA?
NASBA serves as a forum for the 54 U.S. boards of accountancy. NASBA sponsors a variety of programs and services designed to enhance the effectiveness of its member boards.

What is the NASBA CPE program?
Most states require continuing professional education (CPE) for CPAs to maintain active licenses. The fundamental purpose of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) is to maintain and/or increase professional competence. The National Registry of CPE Sponsors is a program offered by NASBA to recognize sponsors who offer CPE in accordance with nationally recognized standards. Individuals seeking CPE credits should contact the state board in which a CPA holds their license to determine the CPE requirements. There are a variety of Professional Associations that accept CPE for certification credits, they include:

Who earns CPE’s?

If you’re working toward—or possess—a professional certification such as the CPA, CISA, CISM, CISSP, PMP, or many others, you’re familiar with the concept of continuing professional education credits, or CPEs. Just as doctors and lawyers must maintain their expertise through yearly ongoing education, most certification programs require technical specialists to regularly submit evidence of CPE efforts to keep their titles current.

The Radian Group, LLC offers Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Standards for the Following Certifications:

-          Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

-          Certified Management Accountant (CMA)

-           Certified in Financial Management (CFM)

-           Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)

-           Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA)

-           Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

-           Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)

-          Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

-          Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

-          Project Management Professional (PMP)

-

How do I register for this program?
Courses are available on a Public Education schedule or via client purchase for on-site presentations.  A client of The Radian Group is typically a Global 5000 company or a Non-Profit, Supply-Chain or Educational Institution.

How are CPE credits determined?

CPE credits are measured by program length, with one 50-minute period equal to one CPE credit. One half-credit increments (equal to 25 minutes) are permitted after the first credit has been earned and time is rounded down to the nearest full or half credit hour.

CPE credit for Group-Live programs, such as Radian Compliance courseware, is based on the results of pilot tests conducted to determine average completion time and therefore CPE value is noted on the Radian Education Course Catalog.

Requirements to receive CPE:

State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.

How do I obtain my Certificate of Completion?

As a member of the NASBA Registry of CPE Sponsors, The Radian Group has a responsibility to verify that CPE requirements are met, issue a certificate that includes certain NASBA required information, and maintain course and certificate records for five years. NASBA certificates of completion are not the same as a general certificate of completion for the reasons just mentioned.

Individuals seeking CPE credit must be a registered client of The Radian Group.  To receive a certificate the following should be submitted to The Radian Group, LLC:

The Radian Group  will provide individuals with a Certificate of Completion within three to four weeks of receipt of all required documentation

Refunds and program cancellations are not applicable to CPE issuance.
